Now something needs to be done about the paid parking situation. That lot should not be charging $10 bucks.

You're right, it should be more. The true cost of urban parking issues.

Only if you look at things through a vacuum. If the metro was built up and had the same transit connectivity as Chicago then sure they should charge $30 for 4 hours.

There are other options than driving and parking.
MARTA
Carpooling
Ride Hail service
Taxi
Don't expect cheap parking in Downtown, leave the BS in the suburbs.

Ugh, here we go, even though 70% of the metro lives in the suburbs without access to Marta without driving, having to pay if you carpool and paying more for a Taxi or "Ride Hail Service". Weren't you just chiding someone in another thread for for trying to separate the suburbs from the city?

If people refuse to pay $10 they won't charge $10 to park.....but enough people do so there you go.

Well, I would argue that the night time use of this parking should be secondary to prime daytime use. So $10 to park for a 2-3 hour long show...hmm....it does seem excessive. I mean, many of the Masquerade shows fall into the $20-$30 range, so it's not the same as paying $20 to park for a show at Philips you paid $100 or more to get a ticket for. $10 can easily be 50% of the cost of ticket to a Masquerade show.

And I wouldn't want to feel pressured to make sure I get out before 1am to catch the last MARTA train.

I totally forgot about this. Yeah, some of the later events go on till about 2, so Marta isn't even an option if you want your money's worth.

Also, the Masq has shows well below $20 sometimes. That happens pretty often if the show is in Purgatory or it's a dance party.

I dont know why people find this so surprising. As I said before, if they had the right people in place to run Kenny's Alley that place would be a gold mine. Back in the day when they had hooters, the irish pub and a bunch of clubs down there it was a pretty damn cool spot to be at night. I used to go down there from Smyrna all the time. It's the absolute perfect setup, just has never been run right.
