I think what they are trying to do is make multiple paths. There are ground level paths, elevated paths, and there would still be normal side walks where the buildings are at street level.

They are making some paths to be more recreational in nature, so if you wanted to go for a jog and lived in town you would like the rounded meandering path that is separated from the road and curves back and forth. I can see them being very popular.

Yeah, it definitely shows better in the rendering.

Also, that'll be a major tailgating spot for Tech football games.

Lol

I thought about that too. It seems like a big gift to Georgia Tech.

I'm still figuring out how I feel about this overall. I'm not sold either way yet.

It isn't bridging two parts of the city, as much as it is bridging Georgia Tech to lower Midtown.

I struggle with the boundaries being between North Ave and 10th street vs. something smaller in that area and something smaller further north connecting TBS/Home Park/Atlantic Station.

One added fear I have, is I don't want Georgia Tech buying more property in the Midtown / Downtown area. I don't mind them renting private space, but I don't want them to remove more taxable land from our limited land area for high-intensity use core. I'm nervous this could encourage eastward growth, where GT could straddle large parts of this.

Should, if possible, go from North Avenue to 14th Street.

I see where you are coming from, but if this thing gets built in any iteration, it would be a game changer....

Oh yes. I would be happy with a North to 10th.

They can extend at a later time.

Part of their plan in making the freeway tunnel is making the width slightly smaller. To do that they would remove the current on/off ramps onto the freeway @ Spring/W Peacthree, North Ave, and 10th Street.

The reason Williams St is on both sides of the freeway is it would be one-way on each side and serve mostly as a C/D system.

So if you were intending to exit at North Ave, you'd get off the freeway at 14th street and continue straight at street level to North Ave.

This way the tunnel part is just drive straight only and doesn't deal with any complexities on or off ramps.

This is very close to how it is already set up between 10th street and 17th street. I also think they are hoping traffic to/from the freeway will not cross simply at North Ave and 10th street, but also on the new East/west connections. That would spread it out more.
Okay, but hear me out: a public park in between two collector-distriburor roads, coming off of the interstate? I don't think this has been 100% thought through.

But how else handle the situation?

Currently, 14th st, 10th st, and North Ave are major access points into the area. These are going to be issues that must be dealt with if we place a park over a freeway in any core that covers this much length.

I think Tech is done expanding its footprint eastward, they seem to be more interested in building up their existing land holdings in Tech Square.

That's what I hope, but with the timeline on something like this getting planned, financed and built we are looking at a 10-20 years outlay.

So my fear is more about what be 15-40 years out, including after some people see it as a GT Green.
