Oh, and of course engineering work can actually start for the high-capacity lines since there'd actually be funding in place for it, which is needed for the routes to get through federal screening anyway.
If DeKalb does it like Atlanta they are liable to get boxed into a situation where only 1% of the money can be used for bus service improvements.

And that 1% would be good for a whole lot, while also funding other needed projects.

The discussion is about the Clifton Corridor route. Without federal money, it doesn't get built. And the short delay in getting DeKalb money (assuming it does get approved) won't make much difference in the timing of the non-Atlanta portion of the Corridor.

That project list was approved by City Council, so DeKalb Co Commissioners would have the same opportunity and if they felt bus service was money better spent, then they can choose that. Of course they are going to get the I-20 East rail funded first.
If you feel like more of Atlanta's sale tax should be spent on bus service, then I encourage you to attend one of their input sessions throughout the city. You can find one near you.

Did you read my post? MARTA is holding input pop-ups for feedback on what the funds should be spent on, out of the list. Just go to one of them!

But are they just talking about divvying up the 1%?

I've been told on this board that the project list was set by the city council and locked in by the vote.

The project list, but included on that list is bus service improvements, BRT, etc. Just go to the input pop ups if you feel that strong about it, if not **** about it already.

No need to get all mad about it, cq.

That very link to the MARTA website includes the More MARTA Fact Sheet stating that only 1% of the money is for bus service improvements. $65 million out of $6.5 billion.

If we can somehow get more than that, I'm all for it.

cq,

You need to be more visionary. The potential of those areas is tremendous. And like demonta said above, there is significant opportunity for a lot of industrial and commercial development and investment.
