And then it should annex the Parkview neighborhood, and whatever's left unincorporated in East Lake and East Atlanta, which isn't much. And then maybe Constitution and Gresham Park, since those areas have an Atlanta address and are basically Atlanta. All of the 30316 and 30317 Atlanta zip codes could probably annex into Atlanta.

But after that, Atlanta should call it a day in DeKalb. And the vast majority of DeKalb County would still be not in Atlanta.

As far as the LaVista area, that area should try again as far as forming its own new city, with a much smaller footprint. Or, join Atlanta, Brookhaven, Chamblee, or a combo of all 3.

DeKalb should just go ahead and incorporate everything as Fulton has done, especially since their county govt is crap.

Atlanta needs to stop only annexing poor areas with higher crime that strain resources without adding much on taxes. Some of the northeast, like north druid hills area, needs to be brought in. Constitution and Gresham park can stay unincorporated.

I'm not for or against it. We simply need to see the data.

We know that as exempt organizations Emory and CDC won't be contributing to the city's tax base. How will their annexation impact the city?

We also know Emory wants to tap into the city's new transit tax increase. However, we don't know how, if it all, Emory plans to offset the money they pull out, or how they would otherwise contribute to transit funding.

Without some basic information on the table, we're making some gigantic commitments totally in the dark.

Who do you consider Cathy Woolard's base? She was the person who put the Beltline on the map, the first woman to be city council president and the first openly gay elected official in Georgia. She lives in Glenwood Park and has been a great advocate for transit and pedestrian improvements.

White progressives. Personally I like her, but this is a thorn in my side.

Exactly right. No valid reason for that country to have a say in this.

Your thinking is spot on, primaltech.

I agree on Parkview (current annexation proposal), East Lake Terrace, East Lake Commons, and White Oaks. But Constitution is too spread out and not enough industrial parcels to offset the costs.

Cool, didn't know it was in process. Glad to hear it will likely be annexed.

It's failed 3X before, not enough yes votes from property owners.

Please shut up... All you are saying is the "black areas" don't need to come in, only "white areas"... Gresham Park and Constitution areas have city-owed properties (Atlanta Watershed Management, Old Atlanta Prison Farm properties), so you might want to RESEARCH before you run off on tangents without knowledge.
