I just wanted to know if there was anyone on here willing to share honest opinions about what areas to stay away from ?

I 'm sure I will get several opinions but I would prefer somewhere with a good school system for my small children...An area that is developing and no prejudice (although I know there may be some but I'd prefer none) and provides warming environment for transitioners..lol...

Thanks in advance for any feedback

So, basically you're saying that you have up to 5 million to spend on a house and don't mind a 3 hour commute to the city?

(you have to be a bit more specific with the reqest)

Budget matters tremendously... but Clayton instantly comes to mind.

Honestly? The areas to stay away from are the areas that offer a long commute to your job. Live close to work and your life in atlanta will be greatly improved.

Indeed, Clayton instantly comes to mind..

Just move to Dunwoody and call it a day, then do more research while you are in relative comfort in Dunwoody. Good everything, not much bad.

Then make a move closer in to city center. Just my opinion.

O, not at all sorry for the confusion!! I am applying and hope to have a job before I get there and being that I'm going to be as I hear people say a transplant I am going to end up traveling on marta? until I learn the area because on the visits I've made traffic is horrible ..

My budget is no more than 800-900 mth
I know I am probably not going to find something upscale and new (that really doesn't matter as long as neighborhood itself is o.k.)
also where are all the brick homes (may seem strange) but when I came the first time I visited Dekalb county and noticed a lot of frame homes
Hopes this helps and thanks to everyone whose responded and is Dunwoody in Clayton county. O, I did visit it Riverdale and I didn't too much like it I was thinking Cobb but...just wanted to get opinions

Dunwoody is in the northern "tip" of DeKalb County, and is very close to the border with both Fulton and Gwinnett Counties. Clayton County is south of the airport-a good 45 min. drive with no traffic from Dunwoody.

What type of hospital? Northside Hospital is nationally known for its Women's/Birthing Center. St. Joseph's is known for Cardiac Care. Children's Healthcare (Scottish Rite and Egleston Hospitals) is fantastic for kids. Piedmont Hospital is also known for delivering babies. There are many, many hospitals here that are great.
