I have browsed the boards, surfed the sites, and I cannot find a definitive area for housing that would ensure enrollment at Grady High School for my child. I know the boundries are subject to change...but where are they right now?
Perhaps some folks could post some streets or zips? I'm trying to find out if I can even afford to live in the area. And if the area I can afford is "safe". I'll be a single mom with about $1200 for rent/mtg monthly.
Thanks in advance!

I think just about anything around Underground Atlanta and in area code 30303 is pretty much Grady high school district.

a couple years ago when I worked at Georgia-Pacific and was looking for Condos downtown, it would always list Grady as the high school and Morningside as elementary.

Are you planning on a Condo/Apt/House? A lot of street beggars and petty crimes in the area.

I thought it was just downtown, but Wikipedia my close friend says otherwise Some very good places to live on your budget.

Henry W. Grady High School - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In addition to Midtown, Grady serves Inman Park, Virginia-Highland, Lake Claire, Candler Park, Morningside-Lenox Park, Ansley Park, Kirkwood [1], the Atlanta portion of Druid Hills, and portions of East Lake.In addition to Midtown, Grady serves Inman Park, Virginia-Highland, Lake Claire, Candler Park, Morningside-Lenox Park, Ansley Park, Kirkwood [1], the Atlanta portion of Druid Hills, and portions of East Lake.

If you don't have to worry about middle or elementary schools at the moment then Kirkwood or Edgewood are good choices. You'll get more bang for your buck in a rental. I'd be cautious about Old Fourth Ward, though it's not a BAD place.

If you need middle or elementary then you can still get something decent in Candler Park or Lake Claire or Inman Park, maybe even Morningside or Virginia-Highland or Midtown.

Here: Atlanta Public Schools

you should be able to enter a street address and see what school

You can use this web site (Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage (http://www.coldwellbankeratlanta.com/search/SearchForm.cfm - broken link)) to search for all houses in the Grady High School District. Just select High School from the "Location" drop down box. You can also set price parameters, etc.

Grady also serves Centennial Place, Centennial Park, Centennial Hill, most of Downtown, Atlantic Station, and Home Park.

If you go to the Atlanta Public School website (Atlanta Public Schools: Our Focus... Student Success!), search around. There are some high school boundary maps buried deep in there somewhere (I've looked at them a few times...but I always forget how I get there!).

Good Luck.

Thanks all!
I have gone to the Coldwell Banker site, and it is helpful to a degree. It's nice to see CD posters giving their two cents about streets/neighborhoods too though. Can't really tell much about a neighborhood from the price and picture!

Aries - that map must REALLY be buried! I may just call them to mail me one!

BeefChuck - I did the Wiki thing too, and that's a WHOLE lotta places served - was hoping to get more specifics about what parts of those areas were Grady - as some of them have several highschools.

Thanks ITPGARDENGAL - that's what I was looking for.

and Plessthanpointofive - always thorough answers. Tried to rep ya - but I have to spread a little first.

Maybe if I find a few listings that look to be in my price range I can post those specific neighborhoods for query here. It's promising to hear that I'll be able to afford something.

djw - if you click on the link I provided it brings you to the APS website to an app where you enter an address and it tells you what schools your kids would go to.

So, once you get a list of homes you can double check them there.

Have fun househunting!
