Hi all, we are seriously thinking of moving to or around Carrollton, GA (from Nashville area) to be closer to my mother. However, my husband is Muslim (I am Christian) and we are worried that it could be an issue? Obviously we are no strangers to the Bible Belt, but we are pretty close to Nashville and have not experienced anything too negative or out of the ordinary. I wouldn't be asking this question if we were moving closer to the Atlanta area, but from what I have read Carrollton isnt really considered an Atlanta suburb.

Also my husband is clearly Middle Eastern looking and I am white so I also wonder if that would get any stares? Any honest feedback would be very appreciated!!

The University of West Georgia is in Carrollton and has 12,000 students from 74 nations not including the US.

Edit: Meant to add that I'm sure you blend in.

Just like any place, there are all kinds of people but Carrollton city is very open to diversity.

The fact that it is a college town definitely should be in your favor.

Just flipping through the faculty and staff index, they definitely have a lot of nationalities

What exactly is "American Culture?" Guns and racism? Our entire country is made up of immigrants and you sound very ignorant and close minded when you make statements like this. Freedom of religion, and speech, means statements like yours make no sense.

There's no misreading what you said. It was tacky and uncalled for. It's The exact **** she doesn't want to put up with. There is no AMERICAN CULTURE. The girl next door is no longer the stereotypical blond haired and blue eyed girl. It's my daughter with the natural or the girl with hijab.

This Tyrone poster has been making ignorant posts on this forum the last few months and it's annoying me. Either they're super young and naive or they're simply uneducated and close-minded.
