Yes. This is one of those "What the F were you thinking" proposals. What purpose does this serve?

It's even more terrifying when you realize the guy who sponsored it is a physician assistant. Really? A medical practitioner that is that racist? That's horrible.

I'm not a fan of this, but I presume it would not affect headscarves like those shown in the photo. Just hoods and masks that conceal the identity of the person wearing them.

Nope, this is GA. Where without Atlanta, it'd be Alabama and Mississippi.

So the simple scarves shown on the HuffPo article are NOT Niqabs or Hijabs - how typical of the HuffPo to misrepresent.

I wouldnt agree with banning hijabs as you can still see the person's face. Niqabs are the full body, head, face coverings with just an eye-slit. Although I don't really care, I can see the argument behind banning clothing that completely conceals a persons identity. Walking around in public in full concealment makes people nervous and suspicious.

Correct. The picture and article are very misleading. This law has been on the books for years, and can already be enforced on men. I'm opposed to the law..but if we aren't going to amend it to affect women as well, we need to repeal it all together. No reason this law should be on the books affecting one gender only.

This is not and will not be banned:

And this is why I don't want to live anywhere else in GA outside of the Atlanta area. Certain parts of the ATL area(Paulding and Bartow in particular) are like this.

Again, I'm opposed to the law, but the purpose would be the same as how it is currently written to be illegal for men only. To make identifying people who commit crimes easier.

It was originally written to target white supremacists from committing anonymous crimes, but of course applied to all males. Now it is targeting Islamic terrorists, but of course applies to all women. Both actually have decent intentions (protect the public), but are not going to be upheld constitutionally.

I'm actually surprised the law as it is written is still on the books.
