I love these areas fpr what they were and what they are becoming. The new projects along Howell Mill Rd and especial those old warehouse on Brady Ave looks like it will really be something special in the near future.
Bacchanalia is expanding.new apartments and single family housing on and off of Huff Rd.

Now if only they would go through with the plan to turn the water works grounds into a parks.
Thoughts about the area?

Love the area as well, but if never live there. Great for restaurants and stuff, but all of the housing is cheap apartments. I have never seen nice single family neighborhoods there.

My hope is west midtowns gentrification spreads down and starts to gentrify the English avenue area.

These 'fake', developer created area names need to stop. These areas comprise existing neighborhoods that have history, respect the history and learn the names of the neighborhoods. Blandtown, Home Park, Berkeley park, Loring Heights, Riversdie, Bolton, Whittier Mill Village, Underwood Hills, etc.

Love the area, imagine traffic is going to be crippling in this area as it continues to grow.

Um Howell Station, Home Park, Underwood Hills, Berkeley Park, Channing Valley, Hills Park, and let's throw in Riverside, Hanover West and Whittier Mill Village in the mix too. The only apartments in the area are on Howell Mill with a few on Collier and a couple more on Defoors. Do you just talk out of your neck or what?

Traffic is already a wrap. The backup in the am on Collier going east to Howell Mill keeps getting longer and longer by the week it seems. And when they open up those new apartments on Beck St behind the food truck park I'm sure it's going to get a lot worse. And for some stupid reason COA isn't going to widen Howell Mill. Think my neighbor actually said they intend to take out a lane and add a bike lane like wtf. Smh. Can't beat the area when it comes to women though. Wow. All flavors and shades. I'll take the traffic all day if it means more of them moving into the area

It appears that the ROW is built out and it would be too expense to buy, demo buildings and property to create a wider road, that will just get filled up.
As far as removing a lane, your neighbor may be referring to the Howell Mill Complete Street ReNew Atlanta Bond Project. Howell Mill Road

Yeah I share the same sentiment. My dad lived in this area going back to when it was still somewhat kinda sketch. Back when the seedy motels where on Howell Mill and when Westside Provisions was a Uhaul Storage place. It was never called West Midtown then. If anything Howell Mill was like the slums of Buckhead, and people from this area would frown at you if you called it the Westside. It was never a bad area but they didn't want to be grouped in with the real westside which is directly to the south. Now all the sudden it's become cool to call it the westside. But even now I'm sure those folks who live north of Howell Mill & Collier, where it starts getting really nice and always has been really nice, bristle at being lumped in with the westside. Howell Mill going up to Morris Brandon is solidly Buckhead and will always be

The Howell Mil/Collier/Defoors area is on my radar for places to move to but I think I will likely avoid it. I get the feeling that area may end up being one of the absolute worst areas in Atlanta for traffic.
