You can still have cul-de-sac style neighborhoods, but have more arterials and larger grid style layouts.

I don't ever want to live in a gird system or a system where every road connects through. But Atlanta does indeed need more large connector roads and fewer tiny roads that zig-zag everywhere.

I am okay with dedicated lanes if that's what it takes to get more buses on the road out there.

In my opinion, they'd be fine running with regular traffic like they do now but if the transit lobby wants dedicated lanes so be it.

Quit the gee-hawing and get the darn things rolling.

Proper planning goes a long in ensuring the investment pays off. Throwing more buses will not solve the current issues.

The thing is, more buses are already the plan. That's partly why it isn't under discussion. The real topic is how to handle the road space.

How much do jobs in the Atlanta transit lobbying industry pay? You got any connections?

It might help folks who are schlepping along in freezing winter weather or the boiling summer sun.

The ridership is not just there--if the bus headway times are any indication, it's one of the most heavily ridden bus routes in the system.

MARTA

Fifteen-minute headways at night!

Yes, I would venture to guess that Rte. 39 is a Cash Cow for MARTA.

Well, I was referring to the informal pro-transit advocates on this board (of which you and I already a part).

However, if you are looking for a job, I would try either Citizens for Progressive Transit or MoreMarta.

Citizens for Progressive Transit is probably volunteer only. They are sharp cookies and are the ones who created the world class transit map that you often see.

I don't know whether or not the folks at MoreMarta are compensated.

Aight, here's a bit more reworking. 10ft travel lanes, and 10ft transit lanes. A bit tight, but it does have a median that can be used for ped-islands, and manages to hold onto bike-lanes.
