Huh... I've had a Comcast cablemodem here for 2.5 years, and we haven't had many issues at all. It seems relatively stable -- the modem I rent from them is a Motorola SB5101, which might help.

Default ISPs For DSL

If you want DSL but need features that AT&T does not offer (e.g. static IPs) I recommend Atlantic Nexus a.k.a. AtNex.

We started with Earthlink 5 years ago. After a couple of years and some bad customer service experiences, we switched to SpeedFactory. SpeedFactory was initially good but seemed to degrade, so we switched to AtNex about a year ago.

So far, I couldn't say enough good things about AtNex. They are a local company with top-notch service and support.

FIOS is Verizon's fiber optic to the house offering that provided phone, TV, and Internet. It's only available where Verizon is the local POTS provider such as the Northeast, FL, TX. It's not available in GA, but ATT U-Verse is availbale with its serious limitations.

Same here. I have never had interruptions in service. I do agree that customer service with them is bad, but the actual product they provide has been wonderful - that includes cable and internet.
