It looks like I can get a beautiful home in the $200s in the north Atlanta area suburbs. Yet, some places say the average home price is around $400s. Not being from the Atlanta area, I have concerns that the $200K homes I see area in undesirable areas. Is this so, or are home prices just low? (Areas: Canton, Cumming, Woodstock, Holly Spring, Roswell, Alpharetta, etc.)

Thanks!!

Can you post some examples of the $200k homes? We would need to see the exact area.

The homes that you see with prices in the $200s are most likely not in undesirable areas but are likely often relatively older (and/or relatively smaller) homes that have been skipped over by buyers in favor of newer and/or larger homes that are often farther out from the core of the metro area/region in what is currently a very active real estate market.

There are very few, if any, truly real undesirable enclaves in the areas that you named. It's just that the homes that you find with those prices in the areas you named might be in need of some updates because of a relatively older age in a hot real estate market where new homes (and/or new larger homes) are currently really popular.

No worries, mate.
