If that's the case, then I part ways with progressives on that issue. I really can't get that worked up about the social cost to the poor or issues to help them when many of the poor just voted for Trump who will implement policies very harmful to them.

So Georgia would not get to Tax it anyway. Its "Federal" land.

I agree, and am a progressive on this issue, the social cost would be a further issue for downtown on top of the horrible street activity that is and will be changing in the coming decade downtown.

If it has to happen, isolate it away and the airport to me makes the most sense.

I dont think most people with a short layover will risk leaving the airport to go to a casino at the airport unless it is directly connect to the airport.
Perhaps they could have a short rail from the airport, most people are on multi-hour layovers.

While I agree, if it's direct it would be better.

They could build it along the 'Sky Train' like the convention center, hotels, and rental car lots are. Though, they'll need to be careful not to interfere with any planned facilities for the Atlanta -> Charlotte HSR line, which was looking to use a lot of the land down that way for maintenance stuff.

Seriously? That thing hit a sandbar on its maiden voyage, went bankrupt and has been rusting at the dock at Bull River ever since.

General concensus in Savannah has been to put the casino resort on Hutchinson Island so it won't take away from the Historic District.

I like it! With the Falcons creating a dynasty and growth around Mercedes benz and GSU. Downtown is absolutely about to take off. I think Savannah should be the other city.

Georgia Lawmakers Eye Savannah's Hutchinson Island for Gambling
Really? LOL

My point was that the coastal cities aren't encumbered by state law what with the international waters so close by.
My aunt and her girlfriends love that casino ship in Brunswick.

How could it ever be at the airport? That's not happening, I guarantee it.

If it's at the airport, it either has to be before or after security.

If it's after security: then the casino can only be used by people flying that day. The general public and tourists in Atlanta will not be able to use it unless they have a flight scheduled that day.

If it's before security: general public can use it, but people waiting on layovers and delayed flights would have to leave the secured area and go back through security in order to visit. Very few would do that. If few airline passengers would use it, why put it down there on the first place?

TL;DR: Security requirements all but guarantee it won't be at the airport.
