I will also say, the minimum speed limit is stupid. I didn't know that was even a thing before moving to GA.

If you aren't driving 40 on a freeway in free flowing traffic, you shouldn't be on the freeway. You are a danger. Minimum speeds are in lots of states.

A lot of them, but not all.

And in most states that *do* have a minimum speed limit, it's much higher than 40 MPH. In normal conditions, something would have to be seriously wrong with an individual to go 40 MPH on a highway, even though it's technically legal.

I was taught to at least just keep up with the flow of traffic, which should be common sense (but I suppose that isn't too common).

I still don't understand the goal/benefits of the adjustable speed limits on 285, nor do I see how they've kept traffic moving any better than before. It seems like the posted limit just adjusts to the flow (or lack thereof) of traffic movement. So when 285E/S under Spaghetti Junction slows to 35, the speed limit sign changes to 35. It's less of a limit than it is a reflection of the reality of whatever stretch you're on.

I'm missing something.

Again, I know other places have these, but I'll stick to the forum I'm posting in.

At the left from Ted Turner/Windsor (running behind Magic City across from Greyhound) onto Interstate 20E, this is daily. The rush hour backup in the left turn lane is "too long" for a lot of people, apparently.

There was a period of time during which just beyond the left turn, in a blind spot created by the bridge supports/pillars, motorcycle cops would point at each car that turned from that center lane - and pull them over. Back when they were doing it, I'd see up to 4-5 cars pulled at a time.

By the time the hurried offenders spotted the cops/motorcycle crew, they were well into the illegal turn and it was too late to abort.

As a 'workaround', people started driving straight through the light toward the next intersection at Windsor/Fulton, making an illegal U across double yellow lines, then approaching the entry to I-20 from the opposite direction.

That's a whole lot of work.

I thought of you all today....... I was driving back from the airport and was on my way to an unfamiliar destination downtown. I am getting used to my new car and my navigation didn't give me enough warning to make the exit and I had to cross three lines in pretty quick order. I was, however, going over the minimum speed limit and used my turn signal.

I'm aware it's not illegal to go under the speed limit, but driving (speed limit - 15) mph in a car with no noticeable mechanical problems in daylight with no traffic ahead of you and on a two-lane, no-overtaking-allowed road is still annoying, especially when you're tailed by a long line of drivers likely thinking the exact same thing I was.

Actually, it sort of is:
