No, that was the original plan for a long time until they changed it for the final approved plan.

The final plan is the train crosses to the west side of the highway at around Spalding Dr, then stays on the west side the entire way up, for all 5 stops. Oddly enough, not using the existing Windward transit center or even the Mansell transit center.

The stations would be

1. Northridge (replacing an existing apartment complex on the SW side of that intersection)

2. Holcomb Bridge (NW side of that intersection, replacing some old motel buildings and stuff, and having a road connection to the future Big Creek Parkway)

3. North Point/Encore (across 400 from the mall at around the Maxwell Rd area- it would probably have at least a ped connection over to the mall)

4. Old Milton (the north part of Avalon, at the corner of Webb Bridge and Westside)

5. Windward (NW side of the intersection off Morris Rd, presumably with a direct access road coming into the station from 400 southbound.)

Stations 2 and 4 would probably be called Roswell Station and Alpharetta Station, would be my guess.

That bothers me also... The World's Busiest Airport should have the PlaneTrain running 24x7 also.

They could do One Track Service in the middle of the night so if they need to do maintenance they can have those hours to it on other Other tracks.

Same corporate entity owns Avalon and Atlantic Station, which does run its own shuttle to the nearby MARTA station. Mark Toro is a transit geek so I could absolutely see him doing it.

DCA, Salt Lake City and St. Louis are much better (to downtown) than JFK and O'Hare. JFK is well can be well over an hour to Manhattan with no delays!

I wonder if those guys who went to Plano and said they wanted light rail, A) have seen and studied this document, B) have considered that riders would have to transfer from the light rail to the heavy rail, heavily hurting their ridership potential. Commuters will probably just bypass it all and continue to park at N Springs.

God that would be horrible, after MARTA's put together this HRT plan down to every technical detail.
