Interesting headline.

Wonder why they don't mention that Ceasar Mitchell and Cathy Woolard have also declined, and that Keisha Lance Bottoms and Vincent Fort haven't even bothered to respond?

Hard to believe folks are still moaning about this. Do people honestly believe the ATL hasn't had a vibrant nightlife during the last 15 years?

Not like it used to be before her and Shirley Franklin.

They probably mentioned her name first because she was one of the main group of people that ruined our nightlife. It was be nice to hear her side of the story

Wish people felt the same about this in national politics

Oh, brother.
That's the one thing she does have on her side, if this thread is any indication.

Southern Voice: Another major issue with our readership is nightlife hours, and it’s something we’ve discussed before.

Norwood: Yes, and I have said that I would put a task force together, and I’m doing it with firefighters before the election, to look at how we can have a late night license. I think we can do that. I want people to have places they can go at night. I want people who are servers; many people in the GLBT community work late hours.

Apparently she is not completely opposed to a reconsideration of bar hours, but with due diligence applied to the recipients. Sounds reasonable to me.
As for her original vote on the rollback, perhaps you weren't around when this transpired.
I was.
Everyone was under a great deal of pressure to do something, from the Mayor on down. The problems under scrutiny at that time were transpiring in Norwood's district, so you can imagine the particular pressure that was brought to bear upon her by her constituents. The same pressure is likely to explain the overwhelming vote in favor of the amended hours, not just her.
So, enough already with these childish depictions of Mary Norwood as the Destroyer of Atlanta Nightlife. It's nonsense.
