THERE IS NO MASS TRANSIT.

So sick of this set-up-to-fail dinky useless transit in Cobb. Set up so that people point to low ridership for these pointless services as evidence that people won't ride effective, rapid, traffic-bypassing, mass transit.

Bring commuter rail to Cumberland. On a line from Downtown Atlanta, via Cumberland and Marietta, out to at least Acworth, and ideally out to Cartersville, and with another line out to Canton.

Then, ridership of all these bus routes and circulators will at least double, because you'll actually have something to circulate to and from. The Cumberland station should be on the straight stretch of track under Cumberland Pkwy, next to where the existing transfer station is. And with lots of free park&ride.

Then you have an ART-caliber bus route along the full length of Cumberland Pkwy, from S Cobb Dr to the station at Cumberland Blvd. And another one on Spring Rd, and then a direct, free shuttle service between the station and SunTrust Park. And with plenty of free parking at all the stations out in Cobb and Cherokee.

Then we'd at least HAVE transit, so that people can have at least a somewhat halfway decent non-driving option. Then, and only then, can we start to talk about people's preferences. When there's an actual fair comparison. Sick of this nonsense.

Well, you have a point. I guess the folks at Cumberland felt like they needed to start somewhere.

The circulator simply doesn't make sense without mass transit. They need to go hand in hand.

Nearly everyone drives to Cumberland, and pretty much everything in the area has free and abundant parking. They have their car with them, so why wait for a bus if they can just drive?

If there was a train to the area, then at least some people would not have their cars with them, and then a local circulator comes in handy.

I rode the circulator and it was a very nice bus, but it didn't offer any advantages over my vehicle (or Uber.) And it was a super long walk to get to the thing, because for some reason they don't have park&ride at the transfer station (also needs to be addressed.)

How am I late? The stadium has only been open for 2 months now. I wanted to give it some time, and see what traffic was like during the school year and then summer vacation. As best as I can tell, the impact is minimal at worst.

Of course the Braves don't attract much attendance, so maybe if they were any good and sold out, it would be worse, but right now it's a blip on the radar. I also wonder if there is a positive change downtown by Turner Field, given no more traffic on game days.

Not sure where you'd put all that free P&R?

Options are limited, but it's not impossible. They'd have to either buy the SunTrust Bank property and put a parking garage there, or possibly the Chuck E. Cheese's property, using that ped bridge over 285 to link the station with parking.

Or, they'd have to work out a deal with Cumberland Mall's property, maybe turning at least some of that surface lot right there into a deck or two decks, with MARTA getting parking without the mall losing any parking.

They'd have to make some kind of arrangement. But they'd absolutely have to have parking. Tons of people live a couple miles or so away from that spot.

I agree 100%, that P&R is needed at any future Cobb transit station.
