Depends, being near water isn't always beneficial. With D.C I think being near the water actually hurts it. It's summers often feel worse than Atlanta's. Parts of Pennsylvania believe it or not can also often get more humidity and stagnant air in the summer.

Don't live in ATL, but have visited many times. From Minnesota, lived in Chicago or 10 years, among other Midwest locales. I agree that Atlanta weather is pretty darn good. The 2.5 very hot/humid months is worth it for the rest of the year. I know miserable heat and humidity can rare it's head within a 5 month (or more?) range, but IMO consistently bad heat and humidity is July and August and then a stretch in June and/or September.

If only it were slightly drier (not Phoenix dry, but less humid), it would be even better. I'd still say Southern Cal - San Diego and LA have the best weather. But, that's just me.

In my opinion, GA hands down has some of the best weather in the country. The reason I say this is because we are not prone to earthquakes, hurricanes, crazy blizzards, etc. We are pretty safe in comparision to other states. Pollen is bad yes...I feel sorry for those who have bad allergies because I have heard some stories. We do sometimes get droughts but not nearly as bad as other states. It does get hot in the summer but let's be real, most of us don't work outside and are quuck to turn on that a.c. I don't think anywhere is perfect but GA compared to many many other states comes near.to it.

I’m definitely enjoying the weather here, especially the 70 degree days in early spring and late fall. Being stuck inside all summer took some adjusting, because in the northeast, summer is when everyone hangs out outdoors.

My only wish is that it snowed here more. I feel bad for my kids, as snow memories are some of my favorite from my Boston childhood.

There was a crazy bad ice storm a few years ago. They seem to hit every 20 years.

One of the main reasons we left and moved back to Chicago.

Plus, me and the Sun don't get along. ~30 minutes in the sun and I look like a roasted tomato.

Coming from South Florida and North Alabama, Atlanta's summer are nothing (unless we have an intense drought.) 2011 was a bad summer.

I think the summers here are very nice. But the winters are too cold. We get teens and twenties and rarely get any snow to go along with it.
