Pacific coast temperature stabilization effect in general does sound nice. They don't have to check the weather every single day to know how to dress.
Nine months of damp 45 degree weather and you would be glad for some temperature swings.
The weather out here sucks goat balls.

Actually, it would be better to describe the entire trade-off in your reply.

Atlanta enjoys winter days that typically crack 50 degrees (peaking maybe mid-50s).

Discovery Island, Canada historically enjoys winter days that peak very near 50 degrees (pushing 50 degrees). Even if the average technically falls shy, days with highs that crack 50 - even if just a little bit - are a dime a dozen over there.

That being said, a visitor from Discovery Island to Atlanta will, in fact, notice the warmer winter days in Atlanta.

I should also note that Discovery Island enjoys relatively sunny winters by Pacific Northwest standards. Its winters are still cloudy and drizzly by Atlanta standards - just not nearly as much so as most of the rest of the region.

The other significant trade-off is the comparatively shivery winter nights in Atlanta (versus the VERY MILD nights on Discovery Island, Canada). Do you mind the routine shiver you feel in Atlanta early winter morning on your way to work? On Discovery Island that early morning shiver would all but disappear. Incredibly, the average winter low on Discovery Island, Canada is warmer than the average winter low in most of the Deep South - including cities the likes of Dallas, Texas; Shreveport Lousisiana; and Mobile, Alabama.

Historically - Discovery Island, Canada even enjoys warmer winter nights than TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA!

So, if you gladly accept the trade-off of enduring the morning shiver to work in Atlanta for its warmer mid-days, you'll choose the winters in Atlanta over Discovery Island, Canada.
