Since I'm a senior software architect now, formerly tech VP, I can say that Atlanta is great for tech, for engineers. However, it is really really hard to find good talent because there is so much competition right now from big tech companies that moved here.

Expect a lot of engineers to move here soon. I don't think GA Tech and KSU (formerly southern poly) can fill the gap alone. They are going to start pulling people in from all over.

Yeah wages are going to start rising as well. Good for those like me in Tech.

That would actually dampen Atlanta's prospects. Companies like to see a good pool of available talent rather than having to attract it.

No it shouldn't; Boston has already been an established tech mecca for some time now.

You guys know I rarely shake the pom poms for Atlanta, but I'll give credit where credit is due. The Atlanta IT market is definitely strong and well paying! If you're in Tech / IT and looking for good paying gigs or startup activity, Atlanta should be high on your list.

When they count Atlanta, does this include or exclude the IT companies in Alpharetta?

True, but Silicon Valley receives more venture capital than Boston, Atlanta, and the other four mentioned combined.

And Silicon Valley shouldn't be listed either.

I guess people don't know what "poised to become" means.

Exciting news. Atlanta is building the infrastructure and talent base to compete with other tech centers, especially with our, for now, low cost of living.
