Not sure how you not being able to vote has anything to do with peaceful transitions of power. So because Trump won it "doesn't work" anymore? Do you see the flaw in your logic? You had two terrible candidates running but the real issue here is the media told you for months that Hillary was going to win and when that didn't happen you are now acting like a spoiled child because you didn't get the result you were told was going to happen. The system we have clearly works. How do I know this? We have had how many elections now where power was transferred? What are you going to do if we were to go to the Popular Vote where you would essentially need only 5-7 metro areas to win and your candidate loses? Go back to the Electoral College? Think of something new? Complain about something else? There is no 'perfect' system but the one we have is better than any other Nations system.

They are about to elect a female version of Trump. Will it still be 'better' when that happens? I am guessing not.

Their process is superior. Who they choose is a different matter and is entirely irrelevant. But good try little fella.

So Trump and Hillary Clinton are the same person?

Problem is most of the complaining is because Trump won so the system must be 'broken'. You are kidding yourself if you think these same people would be complaining if Hillary won even if she lost the popular vote.

It goes both ways. Everyone knows that. We'd all like the president to win the EC and the popular vote. But people are happy with a win however they can get it.

Sorry to quote myself, but it should be pointed out that no Democrat has ever won the presidency while losing the popular vote. So, any prediction of how Democrats would react if one of their candidates won the EC while losing the popular vote is pure conjecture.

It wasn't all that long ago either when Gore won by over 500,000 votes.

An article in New York Magazine's "Daily Intelligencer" column touches on how the special election in Georgia's 6th Congressional District is expected to be the most expensive congressional district...

"Georgia’s Special Congressional Election on Track to Become Most Expensive House Race Ever" (New York Magazine/Daily Intelligencer)
Ossoff Race on Track to Be Most Expensive House Contest Ever
Quote:
The remarkable special congressional election in the sixth district of Georgia has already captured the imagination of political people — especially Democrats — around the country. And now that the race is headed to a June 20 runoff, it seems very likely to gain the distinction of being the most expensive House race ever.

Right now the record is held by the 2012 election in the 18th congressional district of Florida, pitting wild-man incumbent Republican Allen West against Democrat Patrick Murphy. West, being a wild man, had a national fundraising base, and he and his allies spent close to $20 million. Murphy and his allies spent enough to push the total to a reported $29,279,964. Murphy narrowly won.

Runoff candidates Karen Handel and Jon Ossoff aren’t there yet, but are off to a blazing start in fundraising and spending after a combined $14 million was deployed for the first round...

...On the GOP side, it’s not Handel (who will supposedly benefit from a fundraiser headlined by Donald Trump himself) who’s burning money, but the outside GOP groups that may have actually outspent Ossoff in the first round. Paul Ryan’s leadership PAC spent a reported $3 million in the first round, and has already committed $2.5 million for ads and another cool million for field operations. You can expect the National Republican Congressional Committee (the DCCC’s counterpart), which spent $2 million the first time around, to stay engaged, along with the Ricketts family’s Ending Spending PAC, which was unique in backing Handel from the get-go. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is also expected to spend some dough backing Handel.

By the nature of these things, the spending will continue as the race stays close, and there’s no reason to think it won’t be close if Democrats remain energized in what would normally be an extremely low-turnout, Republican-dominated special runoff. The West-Murphy spending record might have been safe if the runoff campaign in sixth congressional district wasn’t a nine-week marathon. As it is, the money will keep rolling in like the ocean tides.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's "Political Insider" column/blog also talks about the money being pumped into the race by outside GOP and conservative groups whose interest is in keeping control of Georgia's 6th Congressional District in Republican hands...

"GOP super PAC to pump another $3.5M into Georgia 6th*race" (Atlanta Journal-Constitution/Political Insider)
Super PAC linked to Paul Ryan spending big in 6th District runoff | Political Insider blog
Quote:
An influential super PAC with ties to House Speaker Paul Ryan is set to spend another $3.5 million to support Republican Karen Handel’s campaign against Democrat Jon Ossoff.

The Congressional Leadership Fund said Wednesday it will pour $2.5 million into TV advertising beginning May 10 to back Handel’s bid for the suburban Atlanta seat and assail Ossoff. The rest is to be spent on targeted mail and digital campaigns and a network of field operatives charged with knocking on 200,000 doors before the June 20 runoff.

The super PAC was the first major outside group to weigh in on the race, which is seen as an early test of Donald Trump’s popularity and a dry run for the 2018 midterm elections. It spent more than $3 million ahead of the April 18 special election with a wave of ads that mocked footage of Ossoff dressed as Han Solo in college and cast him as a stooge of Nancy Pelosi.

Ossoff’s supporters embraced the Star Wars attacks, casting him as a “new hope” fighting Trump. And he said the Pelosi attacks are “tired” comparisons from a predictable playbook.

Expect a new round of attacks to hit on the same themes over the next two months. Corry Bliss is the super PAC’s executive director and was Handel’s campaign manager for her 2014 U.S. Senate bid. He said the group’s “work to define Jon Ossoff has only just begun.”

“The truth is, Ossoff is unfit to serve Georgia’s 6th*District,” he said. “We’ll continue to expose him as the flawed candidate he is, and ensure Karen Handel is the next Congresswoman from GA-06.”

In an interview Wednesday, Ossoff downplayed the effectiveness of the outside groups.

“The influence of partisan groups in Washington, the influence of attack ads, is overstated,” Ossoff said. “It all comes down to a judgment that this well-informed electorate will make about the qualities of the candidates.”

The fund is the latest outside group to vow more support for Handel in the race to hold a district that’s long been in GOP control.

The National Republican Congressional Committee and Republican National Committee also launched ads attacking Ossoff in the final weeks of the race.* Trump is holding a fundraiser for her on Friday. And the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday pledged its support for Handel.

The 6th District race is shaping up to be the most expensive House race ever. Outside groups and the two parties are pouring money and resources into the suburban Atlanta district, which stretches from east Cobb to north DeKalb.
