Even if you take out the depreciation & amortization I don't see how anyone happy with these numbers. That would boost them to what? A half a percent rate of return? I think most expected this new stadium to be at least a huge windfall for Braves owners even if it screwed over Cobb Co.

The Braves market valuation increased by several hundred million dollars with the move, the value is expected to continue to increase and EBITDA is up significantly as well.

Everyone gets it. You’re mad the Braves moved, but it was a no-brainer for them financially. Stop grasping at straws. Have a beer with a friend. Go to a movie. Most importantly let it go. The Braves aren’t upset about the move. You are.

Where are you seeing their EBITDA is "up significantly"?

I too was expecting this move to be a financial benefit to the Braves in the short term for sure. That is why these weak results should be the real headline.

It’s in your ajc link

“operating profit before depreciation and amortization – a key measure of a pro sports franchise’s economic performance -- soared to $48 million in the July-through-September quarter, up from $16 million in the same period in 2016. Those figures exclude executives’ stock-based compensation.”

Suit yourself. Hold on to the bitterness. Tell yourself tales of the Braves (non-existent) woes. Come here and get mocked for arguing that water is dry and up is down. It’s your choice.

A $40M swing is no where near "significant" for a $1B - $1.5B organization.

I'll let you keep that bitterness. Thanks tho.

For 2019, the Braves drew 2,655,100 fans to SunTrust Park, for an average of 32,779 per game. Highest attendance since the 2007 season!!!

Winning the division has a lot to do with high attendance.

Yeah good to see the nice upward trend going on since the move to Cobb.

2015 (Turner): 24,709

2016 (Turner): 24,949

2017 (SunTrust): 30,929

2018 (SunTrust): 31,552

2019 (SunTrust): 32,776

Sigh at this deliberately misleading thread title by someone trying to paint a certain picture by giving incomplete/out of text info. Turner had higher attendance years ago, because the Braves were still in their Greg Maddux golden era into the early 2000's, also it was a different times socially and generation of MLB fans and etc.

The last year the Braves surpassed 32k was 2007 when they had 33k, then the last time before that was 2001 when they had 34k. So clearly, attendance did not suffer with the move to STP.

This is not to say they don't need mass transit or that it was a great deal for Cobb taxpayers or any of that. But the narrative that attendance took a hit is factually incorrect.

Many in here wanted them to fail so bad. Yet they seem to be doing much better. I know it sucks that it doesn't fit the narrative of many here. Also, the game day experience is 10x better at the battery than what it was a Turner Field.
