Healey Building to receive $1.5M in upgrades.
Quote:
The commercial spaces of the Healey Building—constructed as offices in 1913 and converted to condos in 2005—will undergo an extensive renovation following a sale. According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Joel and Granot Real Estate and investor Dion Melzer spent $4.2 million on the 50,000 square feet of commercial space at the base of the tower.

Plans call for $1.5 million in upgrades over the next few months, with new office tenants and shops moving in this summer.

^ I'm just glad they finally got rid of that obvious money laundering operation called Brite Creations.

Isn't that what Zipcar is for?

Slated to open late-2018 (October pending permitting with the City of Atlanta), The Pantry's 685-square-foot space will house a chef's counter and kitchen that will open out into the building's expansive atrium with bistro seating for 40.

During the day, The Pantry will offer "Safe & Honest Within" (responsibly-sourced food) for breakfast and lunch.

I was in the Healey yesterday. I eat lunch in their basement dining room once or twice a week. They've installed laminate flooring that looks better than the old vinyl squares, but the room is much louder and less pleasant now. You can hear the roar of noise rising from the basement as soon as you enter the main floor of the building.

All the restaurants around there are great, but I really wish they were open past 5:00. Downtown is pretty crowded most of the time now even after work-hours, it is unfortunate that most everything closes down.

It's a little better now than in years past. Rosa's stays open until 6. Around there corner from there, Sidebar, Slice, Anatolia's, and a couple more places are open at night.

Several years ago I went to a concert at the Rialto and I wanted to stop somewhere for a beer before the show. There was absolutely nowhere to do that unless I wanted to go to Hard Rock Cafe or some snooty hotel lounge. Now there are several options, so it has improved.

Slice, Sidebar, and Landmark were not open yet in my scenario above. That was quite a while back, but the point is, the area has measurably improved. You couldn't even get a brown bag beer at a convenience store after 6pm back then.
