Atlanta regularly receives more rain than Seattle. We get it in buckets, then get it in trickles.

This summer hasn't been too bad. The rain has helped to keep the temperature down.

I concur. Peak summer temperatures get up to the mid-upper 90s pretty frequently, but the period during which that occurs is only about 8 weeks long. Whereas in Atlanta, temperatures above 94 degrees is somewhat* uncommon, it stays summer warm a lot later into the fall.

* Last summer's daily weather data available on NWS's website does a pretty good job of undermining my point. By my count, Atlanta had 22 days with temperatures at or above 95 degrees in 2016. This year, we've not yet hit 95 degrees.

The upper great plains will always have the worst weather.

I used to travel to Minnesota a bit for work. It's surprising but wooded northern Minn has better winters than prairie southern Minn. Once you get to a certain temp, it doesn't matter how much colder it gets - it's the wind that kills you. Wide open prairie land is just terrible, wind in the winter and no shade I summer.

It's hot but hey, it's HOTlanta, isn't it? Other summers have gotten a lot hotter a lot sooner (like end of May/early June) and so I am grateful it came later. We have been getting rain almost every day. It's good because rather plenty of rain than a drought but cutting the grass has been a real bi**h.

LOL about cutting the grass. If you wait more than 7 days to cut the lawn this summer, it is not fun. My lawn's mix of grass and weeds is more robust than ever!

Coming here from D.C., it's pretty bearable for the most part. Seems to get extremely hot in the afternoon, which is mainly when I'm indoors. The rain, however, caught me off guard. Since I moved here(exactly a month ago), it has rained every single day. Even when the sun is out, the clouds open up and it just pours out of nowhere(from what I've seen, minus the storm that caught me today in John's Creek).
