Is promove.com good for finding less-expensive or non-traditional rentals like a random basement apartment in an old house? I've read some reviews that say they only deal in newer, more expensive properties like you can find on apartments.com. Also, do they do roommate matching?

Unfortunately a lot of basement, attic, garage apartments have been converted to AirBnB rentals lately, exacerbating the rental and affordability crisis. Long term leases that use to go to people, like your brother, are now short term rentals to visitors and tourist.

What's his draw to those neighborhoods? Has he considered Grant Park? Might be able to find something a bit cheaper there.
