After looking at this photo essay on Curbed showcasing Newport's impressive array of vintage buildings, I find myself more excited by this project than anything else underway in the metro. The detail on some of these structures is mouth-watering!

I couldn't agree with you more. The timeline for the full-delivery of this project and the GSU/Carter project at Turner Field is basically the same. When both are completed, it will form a nearly continuous area of revitalization from Grant Park/Summerhill straight through to Woodruff Park. That's pretty amazing to think about.

It's true, LD. These buildings weren't built "in the style of..."

They were the style.

Its Huge! This is potentially the most impactful development to this city since the Beltline.

And more exciting redevelopment is coming to the area with plans to redevelop the Atlanta Constitution Building. Downtown is truly about to explode.

Right on the money, arjay...and apparently no one knows this better than the principals involved in this. I found this statement particularly interesting:

"Nawrocki echoed the sentiment, adding, “We’re finally in a place where capital markets are valuing the historic real estate. You couldn’t have done [this project] 10 to 20 years ago.”

I think he's right. If another developer had stepped in and bought the area 15 years ago, these buildings wouldn't have stood a chance. By the grace of God, we getting a development group that has a clear sense of the gift they're getting and the wherewithal to see it through. We are truly blessed here.
I'm ready to move into the Gordon Lofts tomorrow!

Memorial going east is going to be amazing as well in 5 years. If I were to buy a house right now it'd be off memorial somewhere in GP or Reynoldstown.

Oh my goodness I love it!

Btw those buildings on Mitchell should become boutique hotels with commercial space at the bottom as it is. I almost rented an apartment there last year ! One of my favorite blocks!

Can't believe they doing what is right! At the end of the day they have plenty of space (parking lots of "deceased" buildings actually) for other developments. Although anything built in such should follow a pattern with the rest..

Yes I am also excited!!!!
