Go Buckhead...

Westminster, Pace, and Lovett are the cream of the crop.

Buckhead will be closer to all things you want to be close to. Except maybe schools. I would consider any of the top tier private schools very conservative....unless you want a Catholic school which there is a couple good ones close to town. You have to go the burbs for most of the conservative schools. Holy Innocents is close enough to Buckhead that you may want to check that out.

I think he meant "I would NOT consider any of the top tier private schools very conservative"

From what you are saying that you don't want the sort of "academia" influence--it doesn't sound like the top tier schools would be suitable for you. I would advise you to talk to families at the schools and visit them. Pace, Lovett, Westminster are not wildly liberal or wildly conservative--the kids come from families across the board politically. It just depends on your comfort level, but yes, many of the teachers are more like college professors in terms of how they teach etc.

I'm a little curious as to what you imply here, being a former college professor and all.

Former college professor here, also--and an alumna and current parent of one of the schools discussed--I mean they teach from original sources, encourage open debate of issues, often include current events and topics of discussion, and generally try to build free-thinking adults who can build strong arguments, no matter which side of the debate they are arguing.

I'd recommend Buckhead. But you're not going to get conservative values inside the perimeter as the top private schools (Westminister, Pace, Lovett) are influenced by academia and have families all across the political spectrum and most areas ITP are honestly just as liberal as Chicago.
