Stonecrest =/= Atlanta

ETA: I meant to put Atlanta, not Amazon. Whoops.

The Atlanta intitiative is to throw so much tax incentives on an already generous corporate tax policy to attract one business. Sets a dangerous precedent, atl isn’t one of those cities that need to be begging for Amazon. Meanwhile affordability goes out the window at a rapid rate.

Don’t be a Seattle...

Building infrastructure before it’s needed is called PLANNING.

That’s why it’s easier to get around Dallas, Houston and even LA compared to Atlanta when Atlanta is smaller population wise.

It still results in induced demand when it comes to roads and this is a well-established fact.

Interesting especially when those tax initiatives come from the State and not the city.

I was really anticipating this at first, but at this point I think Atlanta has a ton of opportunities even if Amazon looks elsewhere. My company opened an office 3 years ago in Marietta and added 1500 people. We're now having discussion about opening yet another office just for our business unit for potentially 1,000 more people.

I am pretty much of the same opinion &, for a variety of reasons, have what Arjay called "Amazon HQ2 fatigue.
This new piece from CNN (linked below) looks at issues facing Seattle that the growth hyper-boost Amazon has presented that city.
A couple of standout lines that resonated with me include:
"However, the spat in Seattle makes Kingston (of Dallas) worry about Amazon's willingness to play cities off one another in order to avoid taking responsibility for the consequences of its rapid growth in the future."
"The hesitance among some to welcome Amazon comes from a recognition that for cities, growth is not an absolute win. It comes with challenges that, if not met, can decrease the quality of life for those who live there."

For Amazon HQ2 hopefuls, Seattle serves as a cautionary tale
