Like all but one or two of these articles, it was pretty stupid.
DC has one of the most extensive and utilized transit systems in the country so I have no clue what you're talking about there.

The line from the Airport is street running through the Central District, and it's slow. The Airport station doesn't go to the Terminal either. There's a long schlep through the parking garage, then an even longer skybridge to reach the Station.
I very important fact. MARTA has the best transit connection to an airport in the US and top 10 for the world!
By using our existing HRT system as a fast, crosstown transit backbone, we can build LRT/Streetcar, BRT, etc. to compliment it. While Seattle, Portland, Twin Cities, Denver, Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, Charlotte are using LRT as their transit backbone network. MARTA's existing HRT is fast, higher capacity, and higher quality technology to serve as the backbone of our transit system, than LRT.

But I would say DC has worse traffic than Atlanta and they drive so damn slow too.

The traffic is just as bad but again, they (or I suppose I should say we) have a more extensive transit system that is still expanding. The Purple Line in suburban Maryland just broke ground a few weeks ago and of course you have the Silver Line going farther out into the VA 'burbs. On the mass transit front and ease of getting around, there's absolutely no question that for Amazon, DC excels over Atlanta. Probably Boston as well, but I'm less familiar with their transit system.

Their ped deaths are probably lower too.

Ever driven in DC? And most people do drive there.

I live here, and most people drive everywhere--including NYC. However it's obvious that "ease of getting around" refers primarily to transit, which is why Amazon is looking to locate HQ2 near transit. Don't be obtuse.

You mean, the speed limit?

I mean, sitting at the green like for like 20 seconds, I mean being in the far left lane on the interstate highway doing 40 mph in 55 mph zone (especially if you have virginia tags) while even the the tractor trailers pass them by in the other lanes. I mean leaving a ridiculous amount of space in front while clearly seeing the back up of cars behind creating a "train".

And while you mention it, yes, the speed limits in the D.C. area are way too low! I-270 is as wide as the widest in Atlanta the max is 55mph while on I-85 you can go 65. Camera's everywhere too, such a nanny state region.

When I lived in DC my driving commute was 15 minutes. It's not all around awful. I didn't drive into the city much because Metro is so extensive, which I think is the point Mutiny was making.

But I agree, you can't eliminate Atlanta and keep DC, even with Metro. Can't eliminate Dallas and Miami either. I can't think of any prominent metro that doesn't have chokey rush hour traffic and bottlenecks. Maybe Memphis...
