Hello,

My wife and I are moving from NJ to ATL next month. I will be working in Buckhead and need a place closer to office. Dunwoody, Marietta, Sandy Springs are few areas we have shortlisted.

We're looking at a 1 BR Apt in 800-900 range. Looking at other posts, looks like it may not get us the best and safest place closer to all amenities.

Can you recommend some specific apartment complexes that are not-so-expensive, yet safe?

Thank you

(Sorry if you've seen similar posts earlier)

There's a place right next to the Lindbergh MARTA rail station that's called "Eon at Lindbergh". Technically they're condos for sale from the $180k area, but they advertise that you can RENT them "from the 800s" and they do a rent-to-own kind of thing. Now I'm not sure if they only rent to those who are definately going to buy one, or, if they just have a certain number of them that they rent out as permanent rentals.

Either way, I've heard they're decent. eon at Lindbergh is their web site which focuses on the sales, but you could probably call them to ask about the rent. It's in a good area that's in-between Midtown and Buckhead so it's convenient, and again, right next to a MARTA station too.

"ViaLindbergh" is also another new complex in that area, but they don't advertise prices in the flier I have. Worth checking out: VISTA | Lindbergh

You can get that in the Cumberland/Vinings area (Cumberland Parkway, lower Power's Ferry, Spring Hill Parkway, Spring Rd) and its actually closer than Marietta. Most people aren't looking for a 1BR so that's a whole different story, and you can eek that out, even in a community with pool/tennis. Some examples are Post Crest, Post Woods, Post Springs, Post Ridge and Magnolia Vinings. You can sometimes get better deals on private rentals.

I'd check Craigslist. I'd also check out what Promove knows of (they can get you deals) and look at apartmentfinder.com

Thanks atlantagreg30127. Eon folks are only selling these condos.

Since most of them are under construction (will be up end of this year), they will arrange for nearby apartments for people buying these condos. The rent paid will be credited back when you actually move into these condos.

Thanks netdragon. Magnolia is on the higher end of my budgets. The Post properties which you suggested are in North-West area. Is that a safe area for families?

Some of the options we've shortlisted so far are:
- Jefferson at Perimeter
- Ashford Apartments
- Dunwoody Gables

Does anyone has any idea on these properties? Anything else in similar range (and area) you can suggest?

Can anyone share their thoughts on the Chamblee-Dunwoody area? Is that as good as being in Ashford Dunwoody?

Definately, Vinings is one of the safest.

Ashford-Dunwoody is much more congested than Chamblee-Dunwoody, but Ashford-Dunwoody is much more walkable.. that is there are stores, restaurants, etc that are walkable. If I was a young couple, I would choose Ashford-Dunwoody.

Jefferson at perimeter is huge and just ran a move in special,so be sure to negotiate if they don't offer you one (I think 299 deposit)

Definitely look at Vinings when you're here too. Great area!

There are some sections of Chamblee-Dunwoody that seem a little bit questionable to me (close to I-285). Ashford-Dunwoody seems pretty good the whole length of the road (from Mt. Vernon Rd. all the way to Peachtree Rd. in the Brookhaven area). I have never lived in any apartments in this area, though. I'm speaking merely based on appearances and general impressions of the various parts of town.
