The listing says it is a craftsman but I thought craftsman style had the thick, square columns with exposed eaves, etc. I've been trying to explore the O4W neighborhood history and would have considered this a victorian cottage? What would you call it?

I would call it a Bungalow. I look for tapered columns on a craftsman.

It's certainly not a textbook example, but I wouldn't consider them wrong. It does have exposed rafter tails with a wood panel roof deck.

It absolutely isnt Victorian in my opinion.

it looks like an arts and crafts style house, probably from the 20s or so.

It has Craftsman elements, but I wouldn't call it a true Craftsman.
I'm guessing this was built in that flurry of construction after the Great Fire of 1917. They were in desperate need of housing in that era, so they were building them fast, cheap and with little regard to architectural detail.

I think so too. I've wondered why so many small historic homes in Cabbagetown are so ginger breaded up (if that's a word) with decorative columns, gables, etc. and homes in O4W are completely plain. Weren't they all mill workers with similar incomes? Were the O4W homes just built quickly with less regard for decorative aspects?

Ginger breaded means red head gentrification?

(just kidding!)

Maybe you didn't notice it is only steps from the Beltline and KSM?

It really does look a lot like that Fairy model from the Sears catalog.
