The density advocates will probably applaud this but I seriously that it's going to result in more affordable housing.

The back of a historic home in Buckhead is being demolished and the property will be converted into a three-home development, according to documents filed with the city of Atlanta.

Located at 541 W. Paces Ferry Road and on the corner of West Paces and Tuxedo Road, the home is just down the street from the governor’s mansion. Nicknamed the Pink Palace for its pink exterior, it was originally the Rhodes Estate owned by the family of Rhodes Furniture founder Amos Rhodes. The home was built in 1923 and designed by famed architect Philip Trammell Shutze.

Putting a house in the front yard and ruining the view from the street is an awful idea.

That would be a calamity (the approach to the house is beautiful).
I'm hoping (against hope) the two additional lots would be platted behind the house on the Tuxedo Road side of the property. While I don't love that option either, it's a lot better than what you're suggesting. However, looking at the aerial it would seem that going front and back of the existing house would be the only practical way to create three lots.

I'm not in favor of the plan at all, but you can't see the house from W. Paces. It is surrounded by a very high wall.

I think you're referring to Villa Juanita next door. The Pink Palace is not walled in; there is an allee of Dogwoods down the drive to the front door that is clearly visible from WPF.

Yes--I was thinking Villa Juanita. I'd never heard the other one called the Pink Palace--we've always called it the gingerbread house for some reason. It seems like it has been under renovation/empty on and off for years.

That home is gorgeous, and was built with a level of craftsmanship that could not duplicated today. It deserves better than this.

I think we have different definitions of "eyesore".
