Hey guys,

Is there a place in the Atlanta area to take photos? I want to take my canon out this weekend.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

No. Photographing within city limits is strictly prohibited in ordinance ƒÂµ.455.H013.

Just kidding. Piedmont Park is pretty much the go to area. Old Fourth Ward Park might have some interesting places to photograph. The bridge on Jackson over Freedom Parkway seems to be the go-to place for skyline shots. There's a place off the Silver Comet Trail up in Cobb which has some old crumbling mill structures which are pretty cool LINK. Or, you could stroll down the Beltline and take photos of various urban-esque stuff.

Places I go to find photographic subjects:

Piedmont Park/Atlanta Botanical Gardens
Oakland Cemetery
Little Five Points
Grant Park
Lullwater Park
Panola Mountain Park
Olmstead Chain of Parks/Ponce de Leon Avenue
Fairlie-Poplar
Atlanta History Center/Swan House
Akers Mill ruins

For skyline shots:

Jackson bridge over Freedom Parkway
17th Street Bridge (Atlantic Station side)
17th and Northside Drive

There is another place in Vinings at a parking garage off of Overlook Pkwy, you go to the top of it and you can see all three Skylines, Buckhead, Midtown and Downtown in one shot...

Here is the Parking Garage: https://goo.gl/maps/8pNNvg5nBJS2

I don't know where you can get with the construction now, but right next to our neighborhood where they are building a new townhome neighborhood, there are sweeping 180 (or more) degree views of the metro in some spots. The offshoots from Bolton Drive. Also a pretty decent view of downtown and the new stadium from part of it. I wish I could afford to move into one of those when they are built, but no chance!

The Jackson Street Bridge suggestion above is a popular place for photos. I also like the Atlanta History Center suggestion in Buckhead. Here are a few more suggestions within the city limits. Just hope the sun cooperates.

• Atlantic Station - Take a photo of the bridge
• Ponce City Market- Get a shot of The Atlanta BeltLine (pay for parking)
• Downtown - Get a shot of the SkyView over the Fountain of Rings at Centennial Olympic Park (at dusk)
• Downtown - Get a shot of the Georgia Aquarium at Dusk and the Mercedes Benz Stadium
• Midtown - Catch the High Museum of Art
• Cabbagetown - Get an image of the Art Wall
• Inman Park - Get a shot of the Krog Street Market Sign in the sky
• Little Five Points - Your choice
• Old Fourth Ward - See what's going on at the skate park, check out the Atlanta BeltLine there too
• Historic West End - The Wren's Nest
• Westside - Check out the bridge at the Westiside Provisions Market

It totally depends on exactly what kind of photos you want to take.

Forgot one. There's this popular scene that you'll soon recognize at Piedmont Park. I usually get there by going through the Park Drive entrance and walking a few yards before turning left. You'll notice this little area appear on the right where Midtown appears in the backdrop just over Lake Clara Meer. I use my shot of that one a lot online.

Jackson Street Bridge?! Yawn ... that’s the biggest photo cliche in the city — TOO easy and WAY overdone.

This guy shoots the most amazing Atlanta skyline photos I’ve ever seen!
