Hello! This retired couple is finally going to leave N. California and move to Northern Georgia in 2018. After a few years of scouring the internet, researching properties & areas, and trips to FL & GA - it is going to be Georgia for us! We do like a nice house on the golf course with the view, and we have our CA golf course home on the market now. The golf course communities, amenities, and homes we are particularly drawn to are Woodmont Golf & Country Club and also Windermere Golf Club. So, based on your experiences and knowledge of both of these Georgia areas, please give us your input on the pros and cons of living on the golf course in these two golf communities. Thank you so much and Have the Best Holiday Season Ever!!

No real cons to living on the golf course in either of these two communities that I am keenly aware of.

Both Woodmont and Windermere are great outer-suburban golf communities.

With its location in east-central Cherokee County, Woodmont is located in a more outer-suburban/semi-rural environment than is Windermere with its southeastern Forsyth County location.

Though, with its southeastern Forsyth County location between two large retail clusters (east of the large retail cluster at the GA 400/GA 20 junction in Cumming and west of the massive retail cluster at and around the Mall of Georgia in Buford) just south of the popular Lake Lanier water/outdoor recreational area, Windermere seems to have a noticeable advantage over Woodmont when it comes to the presence of nearby amenities.

(...In addition to being located near the large retail clusters at GA 400/GA 20 in Cumming and at/around the Mall of Georgia in Buford, Windermere is accessible to major retail sites like The Collection at Forsyth lifestyle center at the GA 400/GA 141 junction in Cumming/South Forsyth County, and the North Georgia Premium Outlets Mall up off GA 400 North in Dawsonville as well as to some smaller clusters of big-box retail along GA 141 in the Sharon Springs and Johns Creek areas, etc.)

Because these two golf communities are located inside of counties that are part of the Atlanta metropolitan area, you also might want to request that the mods move this thread over to the Atlanta forum where it will be likely to generate more replies.
