I might be moving to Atlanta for a job and I need help because the only areas I've heard of to really move to are midtown and buck head. I know I need a car and all i need help with is the neighborhood. I just want some bars, good restaurants, and I am a huge fan of hip-hop and I know the rep of Atlanta so could you guys tell me about where I can find a good hip-hop club in Atlanta thanks

Probably the most important questions are:

In what part of the Atlanta metropolitan area will your job be located in?

Where (what neighborhood, town or zip code) will you be commuting to and from for work each day?

Knowing where you will be commuting to and from for work each day is arguably the most important factor because that will tell you where you will need to look for housing in an Atlanta metropolitan area where severe traffic congestion caused by a severely-undersized transportation network (not enough alternate road routes and not enough transit) can make commuting to and from work over longer distance quite a challenge at times.

Know where you will be commuting to and from for work each day and then look for housing in areas that will be convenient as possible to where you will be commuting to and from for work.

Depending on what your budget might be, you'll generally probably want to find something as close as you can to where you work at in Midtown.

Start your search for housing at the immediate area around the Arts Center MARTA Station and then carefully and painstakingly work your way out from that point until you find something within your budget.

The closer you live to where you work, the better.

Generally it will be your budget that determines whether or not you are able to live in a neighborhood with lots of amenities in the immediate surrounding area. The higher your budget for housing, the greater the chance that you will be able to live in an area with lots of the social and entertainment amenities you want to be near.

You won't need a car in Midtown or Buckhead, MARTA serves both of those areas pretty well. Its outside of I-285 where you will find yourself rapidly in need of a vehicle. Note that living in either of those areas isn't cheap like it used to be. Are you looking for an apartment or a house?

Understandable. I don't know where a hip hop club would be in Atlanta, although there is plenty of entertainment in Buckhead and Midtown and finding an apartment in either of those vincinities should be fairly easy. 1 BR will probably be around $1,500 - $1,800 MO. Studio maybe slightly less. You won't need a car in either of those areas AS LONG AS you work inside of I-285 (aka ITP or Inside The Perimeter) .. If you work outside of it, it will depend..although bus service is available in some areas outside of the perimeter, it is nothing on the scale of what you have in Chicago, a car would be highly recommended if you work in the suburbs is what I am implying.

There's other upscale apartments in Sandy Springs / Dunwoody, Roswell and Alpharetta, then also Northlake area as well but I don't know that you will find the club scene you are seeking in those areas and a car would also be recommended in those areas as well.

You'd probably really want one in Buckhead.

We are originally from NYC and have been living in the Atlanta area for several years. You need a car in Atlanta. While there is limited transportation in very limited areas, I find that overall, you need a car. My sister does not have a car, but we pick her up and take her to various places even though she is near a Walmart and other stores (like for medical appointments, Publix and other stores.
