"The mayor said on Friday it is one of the largest expansions in the park’s history.
The area is Piedmont Road and Monroe Drive."

There is no indication that Park Tavern would be affected. The expansion will be nearer to the intersection of Piedmont and Monroe, rather than 10th and Monroe where Park Tavern is located.

Actually, it sounds like the area to be impacted is the commercial area across Piedmont from Ansley Mall. That involves a homely two-level strip center, a convenience store and a handful of nondescript, ancillary commercial buildings ie Hobnob Restaurant. No great loss as far as I'm concerned; the layout is awkward and the parking situation is ridiculous.
I'm delighted at this news, and hope that the expansion eventually expands southward to eliminate the Mickey Mouse building that houses The Boy Next Door and the hideous storage building next to it.
