Looking to relocate for a job in Suwanee. When we discovered Sugar Hill, GA and the subdivision Wild Timber. Looking for local insight about the area.

Sugar Hill, GA, a family-oriented residential community, offers a variety of outdoor recreational options. This adorable city is located in northwest Gwinnett County near Lake Lanier and the Chattahoochee River where visitors near and far enjoy camping, fishing, kayaking and many other outdoor activities. Gary Pirkle Park and Soccer Complex also features 1.7 miles of lighted, paved trails, a community garden, and an activity barn while E. E. Robinson offers an additional sports complex spanning over 70 acres. Sugar Hill Golf Club and Course has been named one of Golf's Digest's "Best Places to Play."

A new city hall and town center with turn-of-the-century architecture, walkways and more also serves as venue for free movies, branded "Reels on the Lawn." Safety is enhanced through the use of downtown surveillance cameras, a weather alert system and more.

Sugar Hill is accessed via Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Georgia Highways 20 and 400. The city is located just a short drive away from mass transit stops near Interstate 985 where commuters enjoy a spacious park and ride. The City of Sugar Hill is smart for business too, offering 100 percent tax exemption on the value of inventory in the process of being manufactured or raw or finished personal property. In addition, The Suite Spot at Sugar Hill, a social creative working environment, is a co-work space community for entrepreneurs, startups and work-from-home professionals at affordable rates.

My wife’s boss lives in Sugar Hill, and loves it. He has kids at North Gwinnett HS and they love it there as well.
Your housing dollar goes very far there, even by Atlanta standards. And with a job in Suwanee, you won’t have to worry about commute. The only concern would be if you did have to change jobs, as many of the major job centers would be a miserable commute from there.

That's a nice subdivision in a great area with great schools and lots of amenities nearby.

Give it a visit in person and see how you like it, but if you do like it (which you should), then go for it!

Wild Timber is my favorite subdivision in the Suwanee/Sugar Hill area. Great location, great houses.

Default Thanks for the Sugar Hill Insight. Is it dog friendly?

We are very excited to join the Sugar Hill community. Our dogs will be in heaven with the great outdoors. We look forward to making some roots and learning the local area. Where is the nearest farmers market? Are they seasonal or year round? Also, where can you hike with your dog off-leash? I've found several dog parks which are far prettier and larger than I'm accustomed to, but we enjoy weekend hiking or taking the dogs for a swim.
I appreciate all the detailed responses.

Please dish details about Wild Timber. We fell in love because of all the trail access and how all the homes while similar, still have individual character. Plus the Neighborhood amenities are beautiful. Why is this your favorite subdivision?

Suwanee has a quasi-seasonal farmers market Saturdays at Town Center Park that's actually not bad. By quasi-seasonal, I mean that it is weekly from May until October. Otherwise, it only happens once a month.

Supposedly, Sugar Hill has one on Thursday evenings during the summer near what is generously referred to as "downtown Sugar Hill".
