Plans for the proposed Founders Studios film and television campus on Ga 74 in Tyrone have been revised again, this time to create a destination project where people will be able to interact with the entertainment industry. Plans are currently undergoing DRI study by the Atlanta Regional Commission.

Commenting on the Founders District development, Founders Studios Vice-President of Marketing Mark Sunderland said, “In addition to its need for infrastructure, part of what our Georgia film industry is missing is the sense of ‘magic.’ Hollywood has a sign, the Chinese Theater, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the incredible studio tours on the major lots. Georgia needs a place to experience our industry in a similar way, but something true to our culture. The Founders District is our answer to that need.”

Of course, the nearby Pinewood Studios and Pinewood Forest developments are trying to do the same thing. Can Fayette County support TWO “film industry” destinations?

Absolutely. And this is great news. Let's keep it up!

It will nice when the big boys eventually reach the point where they also want to open satellite studios here.

If Founders brings the fruition everything they have outlined on their website, it will be my favorite studio lot. They are proposing to change a lot of the things that make a many other studio lots really annoying. This has nothing to do with the mixed use area...just the studio itself.

Looks like Tyrone wants some of the film $$ Fayetteville has been getting. Great location for this project.

From a production standpoint I agree. The proposed studio layout is very smart.

Yep ... especially since Founders Studios will be slightly closer to I-85 and the airport etc and everybody going to Pinewood will have to drive right past it. I also think it will be really neat to have a film / TV studio directly across the street from Sandy Creek High School.

...before driving down a foggy, dark Sandy Creek Road for ten minutes at 6:00am, wishing they could have just been at Founders!

Maybe Marvel will pay to install street lights? They can sure afford t!!

My best friend’s parents live 2 driveways down from the Media Park entrance. I’ll ask them to start leaving their floodlights on.
