Hollywood television and film industry professionals are calling for a production boycott of Georgia's Atlanta-based Television and Film production scene if an anti-LGBTQ Religious Liberty adoption bill that is pending in the Georgia General Assembly becomes law.

Quote:
ATLANTA (CBS46) - Two Hollywood figures are urging colleagues to stop filming movie scenes and TV shows in Georgia if a controversial adoption bill becomes law.

Writer and producer Ben Wexler, known for his work on several television shows, including "The Grinder" with Rob Lowe and "Arrested Development," voiced his frustration late Sunday night after the Georgia Senate's passage of Senate Bill 375, also known as the "religious liberty bill.

TV execs have threatened to move production on their shows out of Georgia if the state passes an anti-gay adoption bill.

Last week the Georgia State Senate passed SB-375, a bill that would allow Georgia’s adoption agencies to deny gay couples the ability to adopt a child based on religious objection.

Opponents of Senate Bill 375 (the anti-LGBTQ Religious Liberty adoption bill) are planning a rally on Thursday, March 1 at Central Presbyterian Church across the street from the state Capitol in Atlanta.

Quote:
Minutes after the Georgia Senate voted in favor of an anti-LGBTQ adoption bill, statewide LGBTQ rights organization Georgia Equality announced a March 1 rally at Central Presbyterian Church, which is across the street from the state Capitol.

“This is mean-spirited legislation that hurts Georgia’s families, does an incredible disservice to the thousands of children in the state foster care system, and really threatens our ability to attract vibrant businesses that strengthen our communities – like Amazon,” said Jeff Graham, Georgia Equality’s executive director in a news release. “No one is trying to undermine freedom of religion in Georgia – that’s why religiously affiliated adoption agencies already enjoy the freedom to work exclusively with families that share their faith values. This legislation goes out of its way to make it harder for loving and committed same-sex couples to start a family – and unfortunately, it’s children in need of permanent homes who will pay the steepest price.”

SB 375 would allow adoption agencies to refuse to place children with same-sex couples based on their religious beliefs. The bill would also prohibit the Georgia Department of Human Services from taking “adverse action” against such agencies. It passed 35-19 and will now head to the House for consideration.

While I’m not a fan of the bill this Ben Wexler guy seems to spend an awful lot of his time tweeting.

The nation will have Georgia on its mind but not for good reasons.

This quote just says it all:

Quote:
Supporters of the bill say it would encourage more adoption agencies to open in the state. They believe faith-based agencies need protections from discrimination and the freedom to express their religious beliefs.
So, if they can discriminate, more agencies will open? Do they really, actually think that? So, what keeps adoption agencies out of Georgia is the inability to discriminate?

But, then it gets even better: in order to discriminate, they need to be protected from discrimination. You can't make this...stuff...up. Seriously...

Sorry. You allowed to have your religious beliefs. You are allowed to practice your religious beliefs. You do not need to make other people follow your religious beliefs. Your religious beliefs should have no bearing on the operation of a business, especially if that business is tax-funded. If your business is tax funded, you have absolutely no right to use your religion against others. Get the hell out. And go to hell, too.

Well, so does our President. You know, instead of doing his job.

It is hard to believe a so called "Christian" nation/state/city can be so full of what might be considered hate.

It's disgusting to me how many sects/cults (yes I said it) of Christianity play up this discrimination idea. Like how it is somehow a thing in this country to be discriminated against as a "Christian" (and I use that term loosely for this lot of wackos) in a country where literally it has always been good to be one.

What makes this a even crazier idea is that all of their plans for "fixing" this situation is to discriminate against other groups of people they perceive to be causing them great harm by just existing.

For the record, before anyone accuses me of bias, I attend a non-crazy Christian church every Sunday.

Simply some losers in LA trying to keep jobs there instead of in Georgia. This isn't lead by a gay group-its lead by competitors to Georgia.

bu2 can always be counted on to feed the standard deplorable line.

Opposition to the hateful crap your party almost exclusively peddles never is real, is it? The Women's March protesters are Soros plants, Parkland kids are actors, people calling for boycotts are CA shills.

Got it. Really healthy worldview you've got over there. Clearly grounded in reality and not paranoia.
