I don't use bird just because of some of the scooter qualities I've heard about. They are now more expensive per minute than the competition. I hope the other companies roll something like this out. I may try bird if that service comes to the city.

The clutter of scooters may finally be 'corraled'
Quote:
GetCharged Inc. or “Charge,” a New York-based micromobility company, announced today it has partnered with parking operators and private property owners around the city to install its docking stations in what it calls convenient, safe, and cost-effective spaces in an effort to reduce e-vehicle clutter on streets and sidewalks.

I'm personally indifferent to these things as I would rather cycle (safer) - but Im hearing alot of people don't really like them that much. I havent looked a great deal into these things but I heard that the company who originated them just dumped them in major metro's nationwide without getting any permission from the retrospective cities and they are completely banned from NYC - anyone truth in this?

To give you an idea what I mean, this is how Austin feels about them: //www.city-data.com/forum/austi...er-austin.html

Re-noting that I'm not condemning them - I personally wouldn't use one though. I prefer to bike or walk through large commercial districts.

They seem to be a huge hit in Atlanta.

Hopefully Eric's death can help prevent others by serving as a lesson for drivers to slow down be more careful especially around other modes and also support dedicated lanes for other modes.

It might - but it looks like it could also end up doing the exact opposite: https://www.wsbtv.com/news/family-fr...oter/951814542

I'm guessing they found some new evidence?

My only guess is the scooter never pulled out in front of her and was already on the road (technically they do have just as much right to the road as vehicles) and the lady wasn't paying attention, was on the phone, speeding or was dark and couldn't see him and hit him.

If the scooter pulled out in front of her however and she was within means of the posted speed limit however, she shouldn't have been charged. Scooters also have to follow the same rules of the road as vehicles.

The article was a bit vague as to what means they found her guilty so I guess we will have to wait and see.
