Pretty amazing that they somehow manage to raise $100 million to expand it, but they still rely on the conservancy to maintain it.

$80M of that $100M is coming from private donations, the same sort that fund the conservancy.

And honestly, I am not thrilled that the remaining $20M is coming from funding that was dedicated to transportation.

The Beltline throwing in some is one thing, since the Beltline runs right through this, but yeah...throwing sales tax transit funding towards this is wrong.

Also noted in the OP's article that the $80 million has not been raised...it's expected that it will be covered via private donations. Not a good start...

The building they are going to destroy for the park expansion is prime midtown real estate. Why doesn't the city hold onto it and use the money it makes leasing out space to help maintain the park? And maybe expand it in a different direction?

The Conservancy raised those private donations. The PP Conservancy is one incredible organization.

I find nothing attractive about any of the buildings on that corner. Opening it up will create a beautiful vista and encourage redevelopment on the other corners. I'm thrilled at the prospect of losing that totally anachronistic storage facility as well.

The road in front of the building needs to be widened and the sidewalk is already very narrow as is. We can't keep the buildings and have a safe walking or driving experience in front of them. I think this needed roadwork heavily encouraged the expansion, and has helped justify, to some, the use of transportation funds.
