My husband and I are moving from Florida to Atlanta and he will be working in the East Point area. We don't want to live in East Point because we have read about the crime statistics in East Point. We also don't want to have to take the interstate. We only want city road travel. We must also be near a Marta line because we won't be using our car when we are off work. Any suggestions on areas that have great walkability, a Marta line, plenty of restaurants and activities, and has relatively low crime?

Try looking at areas like Midtown Atlanta and the City of Decatur.

I know you said you don't want to live in East Point but I'd take a second look at neighborhoods like Jefferson Park. Very nice, and hardly overrun by crime.

I can take a look at Jefferson Park. Do they have apartments there? We prefer apartment living because we don't really want to mow the lawn.

It would generally be pretty difficult to live outside of the East Point area without taking the interstate.

Midtown - yeah its doable / possible but not exactly easily.
Riverdale - I'd take East Point over it.
Union City - This may work but U.S 29 / Roosevelt Hwy is fairly congested.

--- There's areas in East Point that aren't too bad.

As mentioned before, Jefferson Park. There is also the Golden Acres area... like Duke of Gloucester St.

If you're looking for an apartment, that may make things harder though.
