Guys, any recommendations on good local furniture stores with decent prices? I try not to shop at the large chains if I can avoid it but I don't know the locals here... thanks!

Storehouse is great...they have a few stores around the atlanta area....they even have a clearing center in buckhead where you can get things like floor samples for like half price. It was my favorite place when I lived there.

Storehouse went out of business a year or so ago.

Probably the best place to look for furniture in Atlanta is the Westside. Specifically the area around Howell Mill Road, Huff Road, Chattahoochee Avenue. There are many small furniture stores in the area. Pick up a copy of the Intown Atlanta newspaper to see ads for specific stores.

dang...sure hate I missed that going out of business sale. That's too bad...it was good quality furniture for decent prices. We still have our storehouse furniture from almost 15 yrs ago and it still looks good. One of those pieces is a kitchen table and you know how much abuse those get...especially with kids. Oh well.

I'm not sure if they are still in business ( they were three years ago) but way out in the suburbs in Woodstock is a third generation family furniture store if it's still around. The name is Priest's Furniture and the service beats any chain.

Woodstock Furniture Outlet is good. I'd also recommend Moore's up in Jasper.

Knox Furniture in Newnan is a family owned furniture store. After our first purchase there we were thanked repeatedly for our business from various employees. The owner came over to greet us and thanked us for our business as well. They sell quality furniture at decent prices. The customer service here is first rate! The delivery men were on time and very professional. Can't go wrong here.

We have done business many times with Haverty's, and have never had a problem. Prices are comparable to National chains, the salespeople are low-pressure and high-touch, very helpful and accommodating, and they have the NICEST delivery guys in the business. Just this past Saturday two of their guys spent an hour trying to get a too-big armoire into my upstairs bedroom before graciously carting it back down to my living room to be redeployed - and all the while, they were all smiles and kindness. They also stand behind their merchandise even after the "warranty" period is gone. All in all, I find them to be quite impressive - the furniture biz is full of sharks, and you can get bit if you aren't careful.

Good luck!
