If I thought the state has the expertise to run an airport of this size I would be fine with them buying out the city. But I don't think they have either the experience to run an airport of this size / success or the intent of actually paying for it.

The core counties of Atlanta vote democrat. Democrats oppose the state takeover of the airport. What point are you trying to make?

Not to mention he/she didn't even live in the city of Atlanta (unless they're talking about the Brookhaven neighborhood on the Fulton/DeKalb line).

Well the airport is in Clayton County. How about we give it to them?

More ammo for the State to use for Airport takeover. It is like the city wants to lose the airport with corruption so blatant and against the city charter and FAA.

Quote:
Under FAA regulations, airport funds can only be spent on operations expenses and capital projects at Hartsfield-Jackson. Last summer, the FAA opened an investigation after the AJC reported that the city had used airport funds to pay millions of dollars worth of legal bills related to the City Hall corruption investigation.Sandy Murdock, former chief counsel and deputy administrator for the FAA, said that paying Lewis from airport revenue represented a “clear violation” of FAA guidelines.“She had nothing to do with the airport, so that is a classic definition of revenue diversion,” Murdock said. “If it’s $20,000, that doesn’t rise to the level of ‘substantial diversion,’ but because they’ve gone through a previous episode, I suspect (the FAA) will take this seriously.”

So to be clear, you're perfectly ok with spending tens (if not hundreds) of millions of dollars for defense in likely drawn out lawsuits in an attempt to steal the city's ability to manage its own assets and thus an attempt that has a good chance of failing.

Got it!

Ronricks has admitted he knows the corruption / funneling of money will continue under state control. He just wants to see the City of Atlanta "lose", even if it means the fall of a top economic engine in the state as a result.

Did you even read the article? The city is already diverting airport money to pay for the current FBI investigation. Which is illegal. What were you saying again about lawsuits and wasting money?
