I don't have anything against the Beltline, or Piedmont Park but weaving in and out avoiding people gets annoying. I don't like running in streets or through neighborhoods, are there any lesser known trails in the city dedicated to recreation, near Grant park, Ormewood Park, East Atlanta where there isn't a lot of foot traffic?

Freedom park trail, it connects to the beltline, but it has considerably less traffic.

There are paved paths that weave through Grant Park.

Lullwater Park on the Emory campus has trails. Don't know if that is close enough for you.

There are a few in Decatur, but they are fairly short. You would end up running mostly through neighborhoods.

Constitution Lakes/Doll's Head Trail isn't too far south of East Atlanta. There have been very few people the two times I've been. There is a lot of flies though.

I've been wanting to do that one for the longest time. I've heard it's restricted to Emory folk - is this still true? If so, is it enforced? And where is the best place to park to walk this trail? Was thinking of parking at the VA hospital and walking in from there, if that's possible.

There is a sign at the entrance off Clifton that says it is restricted. I've never seen anyone checking IDs. You could park at the VA Hospital if that worked for you. Weekends the Emory garage at the Clairmont campus is free. Or you could park at Druid Hills HS and enter from the other direction.
