Sadly there aren't many other decent sized sun belt cities outside of TX that have a lot going on. So yeah, Atlanta and Nashville will grow and grow, maybe in a generation or 2 they will be the size of Chicago.

i would be fine with more people if there wasn't such a huge income gap developing. i remember for example in the 90s, there were richer and poorer families but everyone still went to the mall and cici's pizza and whatnot. there was still a cohesive sense of community.

now you've got this rich bubble essentially where people just don't interact with poorer people ever. i know a lot of you guys love what's going on in atlanta but looking from the outside in, it looks like even though there is all this new stuff and areas are being revitalized, they are part of this growing "rich bubble". there's a feeling of disenfranchisement.

To be blunt that largely depends on who's moving in and whether said town understands smart growth. Ideally you want people who can work and be productive to society.

In the context of this thread (the Metro Atlanta area in general), the growth is good.

It kinda does...all of these are within a ten minutes' walk of the heart of Midtown...

Yonah Drive
Winn Park
The Prado

And other places within city limits:
Freedom Parkway
Gun Club Rd. (probably a landfill, but still pretty bucolic)
Rivermead Dr.

I could pull up tons of images of our very rural settings inside our booming city. We are not a city of pure steel and concrete, but we are a decent metropolis. That's a good thing!

Maybe you'll just being too exhausted. I think you need to relax and take a deep breath once in a while. Have a massage, relax and pamper yourself. Get your mind out from those crappy and congested place of yours and go to a massage hub to relax your mind and body.

That will be impossible. People are moving out of Chicago in droves, the city and Cook County is declining in population. DFW and possibly Houston is expected to pass the Chicago metro in terms of population in about 10-20 years.
