In my opinion our Georgia Legislature is continuing to embody all of the negative stereotypes about our state...Guns on Marta & Restaurants? I hope Sonny "Dummy" Purdue will resist the urge to sign this bill in. Comments anyone?

I fail to see the problem.

Sonny has been a sorry governor on transportation and development, but I fail to see a problem with that bill.

He'll sign it in. Typically, the past has shown that religious conservatives in positions of power usually also side with NRA proposed bills, and they've pushed very hard for this bill to pass. It's one of those, "I pray and I don't drink but by golly I'm gonna shoot sumthin'!", types of mentalities.

I do believe in the right of a citizen to own arms, but with limits, and also limits on where you can carry them. I know people would could personality wise be Perdue's clone who if they had their way, would have gun holsters on their belts at all times in public. It's a scary proposal.

yeehaw.

Sonny is a corrupt good-old boy and destroyed everything Zell Miller worked for. He worked to get rid of the good-old boy crap in the government. Why do you think he came up with that bill making government workers nonclassified(meaning they will be fired for any malfeasance, misfeasance, or nonfeasance)? He created the HOPE scholarship. Those were the glory years. Roy Barnes wasn't bad either. In fact if Barnes was still the governor, any mass transit system would have been improved, but no. Everyone wanted Perdue and the flag controversy was part of it. Barnes makes a better governor than Perdue and I would rather have him, but USA law doesn't let 16 year-olds vote, which is when Perdue became the governor. I voted against him in the recent governor election, but once again, everyone loves Perdue. That man is a nutcase. He doesn't care about MY needs. A bill to let someone carry a gun in eateries and MARTA is about the best thing he has done so far. He won't fix the mass transit situation.

I am all for it. I am a new transplant, but look forward to exercising my right to bear arms (and am actually applying for carrying permit tomorrow). I want to be able to protect myself, my family or any innocent bystander in case of an emergency. Unfortunately, in today's world, an emergency can happen ANYWHERE.

I got car jacked, robbed, kid knapped....I'm all for taking my gun as many places as possible.

People don't seem to understand that laws preventing carry don't hurt criminals, they're already breaking the law, they hurt law abiding citizens.

What's the problem with that bill? I had my concealed carry permit in Las Vegas, and I was able to carry anywhere other than casinos, schools, and government buildings. It's been proven repeatedly that areas that enact concealed carry laws see drops in crime, since the potential perps now have to be concerned with being shot at.

Why should restaurants be someplace that guns aren't allowed? And MARTA? Sounds like a great idea- at least the criminals and the rest of the passengers would be on level playing ground.....

Yes, the thugs don't listen to the law already. They are already carrying.

All this bill does is give you the legal right to protect yourself with a valid CCP.

I have not read the bill, but I would gather that it does not allow people to "shoot sumthin" on MARTA and in restaurants... it rather protects their right to carry a weapon in those places
