In my opinion our Georgia Legislature is continuing to embody all of the negative stereotypes about our state...Guns on Marta & Restaurants? I hope Sonny "Dummy" Purdue will resist the urge to sign this bill in. Comments anyone?

He'll sign it in. Typically, the past has shown that religious conservatives in positions of power usually also side with NRA proposed bills, and they've pushed very hard for this bill to pass. It's one of those, "I pray and I don't drink but by golly I'm gonna shoot sumthin'!", types of mentalities.

I am all for it. I am a new transplant, but look forward to exercising my right to bear arms (and am actually applying for carrying permit tomorrow). I want to be able to protect myself, my family or any innocent bystander in case of an emergency. Unfortunately, in today's world, an emergency can happen ANYWHERE.

What's the problem with that bill? I had my concealed carry permit in Las Vegas, and I was able to carry anywhere other than casinos, schools, and government buildings. It's been proven repeatedly that areas that enact concealed carry laws see drops in crime, since the potential perps now have to be concerned with being shot at.
Why should restaurants be someplace that guns aren't allowed? And MARTA? Sounds like a great idea- at least the criminals and the rest of the passengers would be on level playing ground.....

I have not read the bill, but I would gather that it does not allow people to "shoot sumthin" on MARTA and in restaurants... it rather protects their right to carry a weapon in those places
