Hello,

I am trying to apply for a substitute teacher position at Forsyth county. The minimum requirement is a high school diploma for this position. I am a Masters degree holder from India. Is it an acceptable equivalent of US high school diploma? Would Forsyth county accept it or I need to get my degree evaluated?

Thanks

I know that there are quite a few workers that come from India to work in the U.S. technology industry, so one would think that a postsecondary degree like a Master's would transfer pretty easily from India to the U.S. but I am far from an expert on this subject and cannot give you a definite answer.

One way to possibly find out might would be to inquire with your prospective employer (which in this case would be the Forsyth County Schools system) to see if your Master's degree from India would satisfy their minimum educational requirement needed to be considered for the job.

I would think that would qualify, and with the significant and growing Indian population in Forsyth schools, I'm sure they would love to have you. With that said, Fayette County requires a Bachelors's Degree for subs. Since Forsyth tends to be similar to Fayette in a lot of ways, I wouldn't be surprised if they had the same requirement. Either way, with a masters you should be fine, but I'm sure you could check with the school system or the website to confirm.
