Hey All,

I am currently interviewing for work in the Atlanta area and am doing some preliminary research on where might be a good area to live. I am 30 years old and recently divorced and will be looking for a good blend of somewhere with a little bit of night life but also not somewhere where its chaotic. From the little research ive done it seems like Alpharetta would be a decent option but would love to hear input from people familiar with the area. I am also a HUGE golfer so if anyone has course suggestions please send them my way.

Thanks,

Matt

Please post what you'd be willing to spend and where your work is located. "Atlanta area" here is too broad. Is it in Atlanta or the metro area?

I'd be willing to spend up to around $1800 a month for a 1 bedroom and i'd be willing to commute up to an hour but ideally no more than 30-45 from the north side of Atlanta.

Dude, please don't make your life complicated. If you have 9-5 work hours, I wouldn't dare consider Alpharetta. If you want to be on the north side, I'd consider somewhere like Vinings because your budget allows it. You wouldn't be far from the action but you wouldn't be in the action. Pretty sure there are things to do in Vinings too.

Why would living in Alpharetta make my life complicated? I'm not sure what you are referencing. Thanks for the input

Hey, Matt. As you may have heard, we have a LOT of traffic in Atlanta. "Sucks" is the word most often used to describe it! So, it's pretty important to know where your job will be before settling on a place to live. Otherwise, you might find yourself trapped in a commuting nightmare.

The prospective job in looking at is north on the glen ridge connector. I currently commute from CT to NYC so I’m familiar with bad traffic lol.

You'd be just fine in Alpharetta, then. Lots of golf courses around there, too. Just Google it and you'll find plenty of courses.

I can't imagine a single 30 year old wanting to live in Alpharetta, but I guess it depends on their personality. Being down the street from work is nice but being 30-40 mins from anything else socially outside of golf at that age with no spouse or kids seems awful to me personally.

I agree with Otakumaster, Alpharetta does not come to mind when I think of single and night life.

Sandy Springs is a great location and short commute to the Glenridge Connector. This gives you an easy drive on the weekend north or south for Golf. And if you want to take Marta in town for nightlife on the weekend, you have that option.
