BlackRock plans Atlanta innovation hub, creating at least 1,000 jobs | Atlanta Business Chronicle

Quote:
...

In Atlanta, BlackRock is seeking temporary office space to occupy during the next several months.

It will conduct a real esatte search for permanent space, according to a source familiar with the plans.

Midtown is emerging as the likely landing spot for the BlackRock innovation hub.

The area around Georgia Tech is benefiting from the ongoing expansion of Technology Square, which makes it a center of gravity for tech-sector expansions and relocations. A good example is NCR Corp., which built its $450 million headquarters there.

In prepared statements, Gov. Nathan Deal said Georgia’s low-tax, pro-business environment provides “BlackRock with a strong foundation for success in Fulton County.”

Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson said in a statement, “BlackRock’s new facility will serve as a magnet for additional companies in this industry.”

BlackRock is the latest economic development win for metro Atlanta, with many of them in the tech sector.

Dang! I think all the attention on our city from Amazon is paying off big time. I wonder if they will lease at the new building at Ga Tech Square.

I’m hoping they help anchor a proposed tower in midtown, not one already under construction. Preferably for 1125 Peachtree, 1105 West Peachtree, or 8th& West Peachtree to break ground

I am so excited about the news. We have Invesco, which is a great ETF player, Ice, the owner of NYSE, and now Blackrock. Atlanta is building a strong presence in the investment area.

Right! Small to medium size IT companies has just as much clout as instead of one company. I prefer diversity, who to say HQ2 even get up to the 50,000 number anyways.
